What is it?
A resource which allows pupils love of reading not only to be recognised but also rewarded. Pupils will start at Bronze level working their way up to Gold through a number of activities and worksheet. Schools reward their pupils with certificates.
Schools are provided with a support pack to introduce this scheme to their pupils and develop pupils’ involvement at different levels.
There will be an awards event in June 2018 where schools are invited to nominate students who they feel have gone over and above throughout the year to encourage reading across the school.
Who is it for?
We suggest the Primary resource starts with pupils Year 1 upwards, the Secondary pack is aimed at students in Years 7 & 8, however can be used with older students.
How are they supported?
All participating schools received a pack in 2015 that includes the explanation of the scheme, resources and suggestions to be used within school and certificates for pupils. If your school has misplaced the information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
What are the costs to school?
There are no costs to participating schools.
What does our school need to do if we want to be involved?
Further communication and invitations to participate in the Young Reading Champions scheme will be provided in September.
