What is it?
Reading Rampage is aimed at boosting reading miles and encourage reading for pleasure with students in Year 7 & 8. Working in partnership with Leicester Libraries and Library Services for Education, Whatever it Takes provides schools with 5 sets of 20 books, promotional materials and the relevant training required to roll out the project.
When is it?
Formal training will take place early February 2017, the project will run until the awards ceremony in June.
Who is it for?
The project is targeted at Year 7 and 8 students. Some Year 8’s may have been involved last year so will be aware of the project. Schools may wish for these Year 8’s to act as advocates of the scheme for younger pupils.
What are the costs to schools?
There are no formal costs for Leicester maintained schools, however schools will be expected to arrange suitable cover in order for the Reading Champion and Librarian to attend the relevant training and awards ceremony. Also, some schools may wish to purchase additional copies of the books for pupils. They can do this through the libraries at cost price. For non-maintained Leicester schools who would like to be involved please call 0116 299 5978.
What does our school need to do if we want to be involved?
Further communications and invitations will be provided later into the Autumn term.
