Leadership of Reading

These two programmes for Subject Leaders and teachers in KS1 and KS2 aim to improve pupils' reading comprehension across both phases and ultimately improve reading results in KS1 and in KS2 across the city. The programmes support English Leads and class teachers in the development and implementation of ideas within their schools by:

  • examining effective use of assessment of reading data
  • improving the teaching of a wide range of comprehension strategies through shared and guided reading
  • developing effective monitoring and evaluation techniques
