May 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of this annual event, organised by the Federation of Children’s Book Groups (FCBG).
Celebrating children’s fiction, the theme for 2026 is Once Upon a Storytime, to emphasise the joy of reading aloud and the ability of stories to bring people together.
Activities include a resource bank, a national competition and a specially curated booklist, which includes read-aloud stories for every age.
